El futuro en inglés con WILL + PDF

El Futuro Simple  Will  es un tiempo verbal que se usa para hablar o describir acciones que no han sucedido aún.

La característica principal de este tiempo verbal es el uso del verbo auxiliar "will" + verbo en infinitivo.

ESTRUCTURA GRAMATICAL DEL FUTURO SIMPLE

ORACIONES AFIRMATIVAS

Para hacer oraciones afirmativas usamos la siguiente estructura:

Sujeto + will + verbo + complemento.

I will be the best painter in the world.

She will pass the exam tomorrow.

They will paint a picture.

Como pueden notar no importa quien sea el sujeto de la oración siempre vamos a usar el auxiliar "will".

Si usamos los pronombres sujeto (I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they) en inglés hablado podemos usar la contracción o forma corta entre el sujeto y el auxiliar (sujeto +'ll).

I will = I'll

You will = you'll

He will = he'll

She will = she'll

It will = it'll

We will = we'll

They'll = they'll

Ejemplo:

I'll be the best painter in the world.

ORACIONES NEGATIVAS

Para hacer oraciones negativas se usa el mismo patrón que en una oración afirmativa  más la partícula negativa "not" después del auxiliar.

Sujeto + will + not + verbo + complemento.

I will not be the best painter in the world.

She will not pass the exam tomorrow.

They will not paint a picture.

La contracción de will not es won't que se usa en contextos informales de inglés hablado.

Ejemplo: 

I won't be the best painter in the world.

PREGUNTAS

Para hacer preguntas se coloca el auxiliar al inicio seguido del sujeto, más el verbo y un complemento. Siempre cerrar las preguntas con signo de interrogación (?).

Will + sujeto + verbo + complemento?

Se responde así:

Afirmativo: Yes, sujeto + will

Negativo: No, sujeto + won't

Ejemplo:

Will I pass the exam tomorrow?

Yes, I will.

No, I won't

USOS DEL FUTURO SIMPLE WILL

Usamos el futuro simple will para anunciar una decisión, es decir, es una decisión espontánea sin que haya ningún tipo de planeación previa.

Ejemplos:

Oh, I've left the window open. I'll go and shut it.

Oh, dejé la ventana abierta. Iré y la cerraré.

What would you like to drink? I'll have an orange juice, please.

¿Qué le gustaría beber? Tomaré un jugo de naranja, por favor.

En este sentido podemos notar la gran diferencia con respecto a la estructura "be going to" que se usa cuando se ha planeado alguna acción con antelación.

Usamos "Will" en estas situaciones:

• Ofrecimiento para hacer algo: 

The bag looks very heavy. I'll help you with it.

La bolsa parece muy pesada. Te ayudaré con eso.

• Estar de acuerdo en hacer algo:

A: Can you give Peter this notebook?

A: ¿Puedes darle a Peter este cuaderno?

B: Sure, I'll give it to him when I see him this afternoon.

B: Claro, se lo daré cuando lo vea esta tarde.

• Prometer hacer algo:

Thanks for lending me the money. I'll pay you back on Friday.

Gracias por prestarme el dinero. Te lo pagaré el viernes.

I won't tell anyone what happened. I promise.

No le diré a nadie lo que pasó. Lo prometo.

• Solicitarle a alguien que haga algo (Will you....?):

Will you please turn the music down? I'm trying to study.

¿Podrías bajarle a la música? Estoy tratando de estudiar.

• Hacer predicciones basadas en hechos:

We won't work next month.

No trabajaremos el próximo mes.

The winner will get a computer.

El ganador obtendrá una computadora.

• Hacer predicciones generales: para decir cosas que nosotros pensamos, adivinamos o sabemos sobre el futuro. Este tipo de predicciones pueden ser reforzadas con palabras como:

•  I think: yo pienso, yo creo

I think it will rain tomorrow.

Pienso que lloverá mañana.

• I don't think: yo no creo

I don't think the exam will be very difficult.

No creo que el examen será muy difícil.

• Probably: probablemente

I'll probably be home Late tonight.

Probablemente estaré en casa hasta tarde esta noche.

• (I'm) Sure: estoy segura (a)

Don't worry about the exam. I'm sure you'll pass.

No te preocupes por el examen. Estoy segura pasarás el examen.

• I wonder: me pregunto

I wonder what will happen.

Me pregunto que pasará.
